Hurray for Cannibals!
In light of the new Dahmer Netflix series, I thought cannibalism would be a good Sunday School topic.
Leviticus 26: (God talking to the Israelites)
27 ‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, but walk contrary to Me,
28 then I also will walk contrary to you in fury;
and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.
29 You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters.
John 6:56
He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
Ones we left out:
There is clear condemnation of cannibalism in the Bible. At worst, it is considered a necessary evil in times of famine. At best, well, it seems to be some kind of imperative for salvation? Most often, it is one of the favorite threatened punishments of Yahweh: disobey and I’m going to leave you in a situation where you will have to eat your children to survive.
